It’s true that many burglars are opportunists or just junkies looking for an easy loot, but the recent burglary technique, I’ll just call it “sticky hands”, makes me reconsider this statement.
I first read about this new burglary technique in the Croydon Guardian, and to make a long story short, the new burglars’ trick is to mark the easier loot with a special locksmith sticker.
The police received few concerned calls, and the it’s trying to establish if there is any connection between recent burglaries and the locations where the stickers were found.
As a locksmith in London, I’m not a bit happy about these news. Unfortunately people have hard time trusting a locksmith sometimes, and this sticker makes it even harder. Our trade is under fire here, we get enough bad publicity as is, and the “locksmith sticker” is another blow for our trade.

Do you know that not every safe can protect your valuables from fire?
If you have important documents, money or other belongings you would like to protect not only from burglars, but also from fire you have to purchase not a regular safe, but a fire safe from a well known company. Don’t hesitate to ask for a certificate for each safe model you are consider buying.
Here is just a glance to the tests the fire safe are going through before getting to the stores:
CCTV is a well known security measure taken by not only banks, casinos and big factories, but also by many small shop owners. Closed Circuit Television is a visible or covert video cameras system installed on the premises and the footage is available to the eyes of the business owners. Some choose to have the cameras out in the open in order to use them as a mean of discouragement for less bold burglars and some choose to hide the whole CCTV system so the burglar want try to avoid it in case of a break in.
Just recently we all heard of a store burglary gang arrested in south Wales thanks to CCTV footage. The arrest investigation wasn’t easy, local police authorities watched hours of CCTV footage to identify the burglars vehicles and identities, but after 5 months of burglaries the gang was finally on trial.
London Locksmiths UK always advise small business owners such as family owned restaurants, convinience shops, and small service providers to have Closed Circuit Television installed. It’s a bit pricey security solution, but it can save you a lot of money and protect you from burglary attempts for years to come.
Many London Locksmiths UK customers are looking for some useful tips on how can they protect their properties from a burglary. Well the best answer we, as professionals in the field, can give them is – make you property as unattractive to burglars as possible. Yes, you read correctly, unattractive! But how to do I make my home unattractive?
Well, lets think together what can appeal to a burglar? Burglar is looking for a loot, and preferably for an easy one.
What can attract him in our house? Usually it would be a good view from your window, and by the view we mean, valuable objects laying out in the open, latest gadgets and electronics and other sighs of wealth a burglar may spot by looking into your window for just a split of the second.
If you have a private house make sure the burglar won’t be able to determane if there are any valubles worth the trouble of breaking in. The fastest and the cheapest way is some good curtains on the windows. Blocking the view into your house will do the job. The burglar won’t risk being caught if he can’t assess the valuables you might have. Just make it a rule to keep the curtains shot.
Well the answer is obvious you may say, I need a locksmith for a lock change in my new flat, for making an extra key, for a lock repair on my front door.
How about an emergency? What should you do when you locked yourself in your car or locked yourself out of your house? To many people in UK the answer is not that clear, otherwise how can you explain the fact that many choose to call the fire department instead of a locksmith?
There are more and more complains from fire brigades not only in London, but in other parts of the UK as well, of people calling them for lockout services. And recently Sussex fire chief had announced that due to the enormous “locksmith service” call outs, the callers who choose to use the fire brigade as a locksmith will be charged for the service.
Any person who is considering to call a fire department instead of a locksmith, should just stop for a moment and think, should he waist the valuable time of the fire brigade, or should he call a 24 hour locksmith service.
A profesional locksmith won’t charge you the earth and will do a clean job opening your locks without any damage to the door or the lock. Fire fighters are experts in their own field and the last we checked it was fire fighting and not locksmithing! So next time you are locked out do yourself a favor and call a locksmith, it will probably be much cheaper for you and for all tax payers in the UK as well.
